Honda CB1000F Neo-Retro Bike Makes Its Debut: Classic Style Meets Modern Power

Honda has pulled the covers off its new CB1000F, a neo-retro motorcycle that blends old-school looks from the 1980s with today’s tech and speed. This naked bike, inspired by classic models like the CB750F and CB900F, takes the base from the popular CB1000 Hornet but adds a relaxed twist for everyday riders. It was first shown as a concept at the 2025 Osaka Motorcycle Show, then teased at the Suzuka 8 Hours race. Now, it’s ready for sale in Europe starting February 2026, with prices around £10,599 (about Rs 11.3 lakh). Honda plans a US launch soon too, and it could reach India later.

The CB1000F turns heads with its timeless design. Up front, a round LED headlight sits between twin horns, just like the originals that raced in the 1980s. The fuel tank curves smoothly into side panels and a simple tail, giving it a light, flowing shape.

It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels front and back, with a single seat that’s comfy for one or two riders. The body uses a mix of shiny silver and blue graphics for that vintage pop, and it’s lower to the ground than sportier bikes for easy handling. At 213 kg wet, it’s not too heavy, making it fun for city streets or twisty roads.

Power comes from a 998cc four-cylinder engine, borrowed from the CBR1000RR Fireblade sportbike but tuned for smoother everyday use. It makes 122 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 103 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, with more pull in the low and mid ranges for quick starts without revving high.

Changes include new camshafts, a bigger airbox, and a 4-2-1 exhaust that gives a deep, classic rumble. A six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch makes shifts easy, and it tops out at 250 km/h while hitting 100 km/h in about 3.5 seconds.

For a smooth ride, it has 41mm Showa front forks and a Showa rear shock that soak up bumps without feeling soft. Brakes are strong Nissin discs front and back, with cornering ABS to stop safe in turns.

Modern touches include a six-axis sensor for traction control that adjusts to the road, and a throttle-by-wire system with three ready modes—Standard for normal rides, Sport for fun, and Rain for wet days—plus two spots to tweak your own. A 5-inch TFT screen shows speed, fuel, and maps, and it connects to your phone for calls and navigation via Honda RoadSync.

Honda’s design chief said: “The CB1000F brings back the joy of those classic CBs, but with tech that makes it safe and simple today.” It slots against bikes like the Kawasaki Z900RS or Triumph Speed Twin 1200, but at a lower price with more power.
