KTM is getting ready to launch the 390 Adventure R in India soon. This off-road-focused version of the popular 390 Adventure series is aimed at riders who love tough trails and rough terrain. Recent reports and sightings point to a launch in January 2026, with bookings opening in the next few days and deliveries starting early next year.
Launch and Pricing
KTM confirmed the plans at the India Bike Week 2025 event. Unofficial bookings have already started at some dealerships, showing strong interest from buyers. Prices aren’t official yet, but expect it to cost around Rs 4 lakh to Rs 4.15 lakh (ex-showroom), a bit more than the standard 390 Adventure which sells for about Rs 3.95 lakh.
Design and Off-Road Upgrades
The 390 Adventure R looks rally-inspired with a taller stance and aggressive styling. Key changes for better off-road performance include:
- Longer suspension travel of 230 mm front and rear (compared to 200/205 mm on the standard model).
- Higher ground clearance of 272 mm.
- 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels for better grip on loose surfaces.
- Seat height around 870 mm, making it taller for serious trail riding.
It weighs about 176 kg, lighter than the regular version.
Engine and Performance
It uses the same 399 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as other new 390 models, producing around 45 hp and 39 Nm of torque. The 6-speed gearbox includes a slipper clutch. Ride modes like Street, Rain, and Off-road adjust power and traction control.
Features
Expect modern touches like a 5-inch TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, cornering ABS, and quickshifter. It keeps the rally-style bodywork and LED lights.
This bike fills out KTM’s 390 Adventure lineup in India, joining the X and standard models. It will compete with bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and upcoming rivals. If you’re into adventure riding with more off-road focus, this could be worth waiting for. Stay tuned for official pricing and booking details soon!
