Nissan India has made its popular Magnite small SUV even better for budget buyers by adding a CNG kit to the automatic version. The kit works with the EZ-Shift AMT (automatic manual transmission) and fits the 1.0-litre petrol engine. This means you can switch between petrol and CNG for lower fuel costs without losing the easy driving of an automatic. The kit costs Rs 71,999 (list price) and is available at Nissan dealers now in 13 states. It’s a factory-approved option from Motozen Fuel Systems, with a 3-year or 1 lakh km warranty from Nissan.
This update comes after the CNG kit for manual Magnite models launched earlier in 2025. The new kit price dropped thanks to lower taxes on small engines (from 28% to 18%). Now, both manual and automatic versions can get the CNG add-on, making the Magnite one of the few small SUVs with this choice.
What’s New in the CNG Kit
The biggest change is the filling spot for CNG. Before, you had to open the hood to add gas, which was a hassle. Now, the CNG valve sits inside the regular fuel lid, so you fill up both petrol and CNG from the same easy spot. The kit includes a 12 kg CNG tank in a single-cylinder setup.
Fuel savings are good: about 24 km per kg in the city and 30 km per kg on highways. The 1.0-litre engine makes 72 horsepower and 96 Nm of pulling power on CNG, same as petrol, with smooth shifts from the 5-speed AMT.
The Magnite base price starts at Rs 6.34 lakh for CNG manual and goes up to Rs 9.70 lakh for top automatic versions. Adding the kit brings the AMT CNG to around Rs 7.80 lakh to Rs 10.50 lakh, depending on the trim. It’s available in states like Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.
Car Details
The Magnite is a compact SUV with a bold look, high ground clearance for bumpy roads, and space for five people. It has a 7-inch digital screen for speed and info, auto-dimming mirrors, USB ports, and six airbags for safety. Higher trims add a touchscreen for maps and music, rear camera, and stability control. The CNG version keeps all that, with no big changes to the drive.
Saurabh Vatsa, Nissan India’s boss, said: “We’re happy to add CNG to the automatic Magnite. The new fuel lid and lower price make it simple and cheap to own.” This fits Nissan’s plan to offer green options in busy markets.
