Ola Electric Starts Delivering S1 Pro+ Scooters with Home-Made 4680 Bharat Battery

Ola Electric has started delivering its top-of-the-line S1 Pro+ electric scooters to customers in India. These are the first vehicles to use the company’s own 4680 Bharat Cell battery which are made right here in the country. The move marks a big step for Ola, as it now fully controls making both the battery cells and the full battery pack – a first for any Indian company. Deliveries kicked off on November 5, and the scooters come with a claimed range of 320 km on one charge.

The S1 Pro+ is the premium version of Ola’s popular S1 series, aimed at riders who want long trips without worrying about charging often. It has a 5.2 kWh battery pack built around the new 4680 Bharat Cell, which is larger and more efficient than older types.

This helps the scooter go farther and perform better, while also being safer with built-in protections against overheating or damage. The scooter has been tested and certified by ARAI, India’s vehicle safety body, under the latest rules for electric two-wheelers.

Under the hood, the S1 Pro+ packs a 13 kW electric motor that gets it from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.1 seconds – quick enough for city zips or highway overtakes. Riders can choose from four modes: Hyper for max speed, Sports for fun rides, Normal for daily use, and Eco to stretch the battery.

The S1 Pro+ features disc brakes on both wheels with a dual-channel ABS to prevent skids. It also has a dual-tone seat for comfort, matching body-colored mirrors, a sturdy aluminium grab handle for passengers, and cool rim stickers for styling. Color choices include options like Midnight Blue and Porcelain White.

The price of the S1 Pro+ starts at Rs 1.75 lakh (before on-road costs). The S1 Pro+ sits at the higher end of Ola’s lineup. It’s available through Ola’s online store and showrooms across major cities. Early buyers are getting perks like free accessories and extended warranties. The scooter runs on Ola’s MoveOS software, which includes features like over-the-air updates for better performance and a smartphone app to check battery health or find charging spots.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola Electric’s founder, shared on social media: “Today, we start delivering the S1 Pro+ with our home-grown 4680 Bharat Cell. This is India’s battery revolution in action – longer range, safer rides, and full control over our tech. Proud of Team Ola for making it happen!”

Ola’s push for local batteries comes as India aims to build its own electric vehicle supply chain, cutting reliance on imports from China. The 4680 cell, named after its size (46mm wide, 80mm tall), packs more energy in a smaller space, helping scooters like the S1 Pro+ hit that 320 km range under ideal test conditions. Real-world users might see 200-250 km depending on traffic and load.

This launch boosts Ola’s goal to sell 1 crore electric scooters by 2025. With over 4 lakh units already on Indian roads, the company is leading the two-wheeler EV market. Competitors like Ather and TVS are watching closely, as home-made batteries could lower costs and speed up growth.

If you’re in the market for a premium electric scooter, head to Ola’s website or a nearby store to book a test ride. With deliveries rolling out now, the S1 Pro+ could make switching to electric even more appealing for daily commuters and weekend explorers.
