Over 27,000 EV Chargers Installed at Petrol Pumps Across India

India is making a significant push for electric vehicles in 2025 by adding over 27,000 charging stations at petrol pumps nationwide. This helps drivers find places to charge their EVs easily, right where they already stop for fuel.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas shared this in its year-end report. Under the FAME-II government plan, 8,932 stations were set up. Oil companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum added more than 18,500 using their own money. In total, there are now 27,432 EV charging points at fuel stations.

This smart move places chargers in locations people are familiar with, making it less intimidating to switch to electric cars or bikes. It also turns regular petrol pumps into “Energy Stations” that offer petrol, diesel, and clean options like EV charging, CNG, and biofuels.

The ministry said, public oil companies plan to build 4,000 full Energy Stations from 2024-25 to 2028-29 along highways and busy roads. These will be one-stop places for all kinds of fuel. As of November 1, 2025, 1,064 such stations are already running.

Other improvements include digital payments at over 90,000 outlets and door-to-door fuel delivery in remote areas with more than 3,200 tankers. Clean toilets are now at almost all stations too.

This growth supports India’s goal for more electric vehicles and cleaner air. With chargers at familiar petrol pumps, more people might choose EVs for daily drives or long trips. The network keeps expanding, so charging should get even easier soon.
