Tata Motors To Be Named Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, by October 24

Tata Motors is making a big change to its name as part of a company split. Starting October 24, 2025, the company will be called Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited. This follows a plan to separate the car business from the truck and bus side, which started on October 1. The new name will show up on stock markets, and the company will get a fresh logo too.

Why the Name Change?

The split creates two separate companies. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles will handle cars, SUVs, electric cars, and the luxury Jaguar Land Rover brand. The other part, called TML Commercial Vehicles Limited for now, will focus on trucks, buses, and pickups. Later, this truck company will take the old name “Tata Motors Limited.” The goal is to let each side run better on its own, with clearer plans and more focus.

Shareholders who held Tata Motors shares on October 14 (the record date) get one share in the new truck company for each share they own. The truck company’s shares will list on stock markets in late November or early December.

What It Means for Buyers and Investors

The name change doesn’t affect car prices or models right now. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles will keep selling popular cars like the Nexon, Harrier, and electric ones, plus Jaguar and Land Rover SUVs. The split could help the car side grow faster, with plans for 8-10% more sales in early 2026 from new launches and rising demand for electric and CNG cars.

Share prices fell a lot (about 40%) on October 14 due to the split, but this is just an adjustment—not a real loss in value. Experts say it unlocks better chances for both parts of the business.

Leadership and Future Plans

Shailesh Chandra stays as head of the passenger vehicle company until September 2028. Sudha Krishnan joins as a new independent board member for five years. Hanne Sorensen will lead Jaguar Land Rover’s UK board.

Tata Motors Chair Anand Mahindra said the split shows the company’s push for growth in cars and green tech. The passenger side expects strong sales from SUVs and EVs, which make up 45% of its money.
