Third-Generation Audi Q3 Spotted on Indian Roads Ahead of 2026 Debut

The third-generation Audi Q3 has been caught testing on Indian roads for the first time, signaling that its local launch is getting closer. Two test vehicles were spotted on a flatbed truck in Mumbai without any camouflage, giving a clear view of the updated design. Audi plans to bring this new compact luxury SUV to India in mid-2026, where it will compete with the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The global version of the third-gen Q3 debuted in June 2025, and Europe started sales in October. India won’t wait too long this time, unlike the previous generation that arrived years late. Sources say Audi is prioritizing the Q3 to boost sales in the entry-level luxury SUV segment, where it has been a strong seller before.

The spotted cars show the new styling: a bolder single-frame grille, split LED headlights, sharper body lines, and connected tail lights with optional OLED tech and an illuminated Audi logo. One had silver wheels with Continental tires, the other dual-tone alloys with Nexen rubber – likely different variants. The SUV looks a bit longer (about 40mm more than the current model), with changes mostly up front for a more aggressive stance.

Inside, expect a big upgrade with an 11.9-inch digital driver display, a 12.9-inch touchscreen angled toward the driver (running Android Automotive OS), wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a heads-up display. Premium materials and new colors will make it feel more modern.

For India, the Q3 will likely come with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 204 hp, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive – the only one in its class with this combo. No diesel or hybrid for now, though global markets get mild-hybrid and plug-in options. Expect pricing around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) to start, a slight bump from the current model.

Audi India hasn’t commented on the exact date yet, but mid-2026 seems firm, possibly in the third quarter. These spy shots suggest testing is underway for local roads and conditions.

The Q3 has been key for Audi in India since 2012, and this quicker update could help regain ground. Keep an eye on official news – the new Q3 looks ready to impress luxury buyers looking for style, tech, and performance.
