Land Rover is set to launch the refreshed Defender SUV next month, in November 2025. This update for the MY26 brings small but smart changes to keep the tough off-roader feeling new and ready for any adventure. The Defender, known for its strong build and ability to handle rough paths, gets tweaks to its outside style, inside space, and helpful tools. It’s available in three main sizes: the short 90, the five-seater 110, and the long 130 for bigger groups. Prices start around Rs 1 crore in India, with full details coming soon at launch.
On the outside, the Defender looks sharper with updated front and back bumpers that give it a bolder stance. The lights now have a fresh pattern for better night views, and the hood and side air vents sport a new rough texture for that rugged feel.
You can pick two new colors: Woolstone Green, a deep green that nods to old Land Rover shades, or Borasco Grey, a flat grey that makes the lines stand out. The front grille bar is now shiny black with a darker badge, and the wheel covers get black caps with Defender writing.
For the top OCTA version, there’s a new blue called Sargasso Blue or a white wrap named Patagonia, plus carbon fiber bits for a light, strong touch. New wheels include 20-inch steel ones for cars with bigger brakes, fixing a common complaint from before.
Step inside, and the big change is a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen across all models—up from the old 10-inch one. It handles maps, music, and car settings with a quick, easy setup borrowed from fancier Land Rovers.
The gear shift moved to a better spot on the dash for easier reach, and the middle console now has a sliding hidden spot for keys or phones. Seats in the back slide and tilt with buttons, and there’s heating for seats, arms, and doors to stay cozy. New add-ons like side steps that fold out help climb in, and an air pump built into the 130 model fills tires fast on the go.
For off-road fun, there’s a new cruise control that adjusts speed over bumpy ground, and a watch that alerts if you’re getting tired with sounds and lights. The engines stay the same: choices of petrol, diesel, hybrid, or the powerful V8 in the OCTA for quick pulls and smooth rides. No big power shifts, but everything feels more refined.
Land Rover’s head of design, Gerry McGovern, said: “The Defender is about freedom and going anywhere. These updates make it even more special inside and out, without losing its tough heart.” The company plans special editions too, like the Trophy for fans of old adventure races, tying into wildlife help in Africa.
If you love SUVs that mix city comfort with trail-tackling power, this updated Defender could be the one. Head to a Land Rover showroom next month for a close look—these changes keep it leading the pack after five strong years.
