Volkswagen India has celebrated a major win with its Virtus sedan, which sold a record 2,453 units in October 2025. This is the highest monthly sales figure ever for the car, giving it more than 40% of the market share in the premium sedan category. The Virtus has now led the segment for 20 straight months, showing strong demand from buyers who want a stylish and reliable family car.
The good sales come at a time when the car market in India is picking up after a slow period earlier this year. In September, the Virtus sold 1,648 units, but October’s numbers jumped by over 48%, thanks to festive season deals and growing interest in safe, spacious sedans. When added to its SUV sibling, the Taigun, the two models have now crossed 1.6 lakh total sales in India since they launched in 2022.
The Virtus appeals to families with its roomy cabin, strong 1.5-liter engine options (both petrol and diesel), and features like a sunroof, touchscreen infotainment, and six airbags for safety. It starts at Rs 11.56 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.41 lakh, making it a solid choice against rivals like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Volkswagen has kept prices steady and added finance offers during Diwali to boost buys.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director at Volkswagen India, said: “The Virtus success shows our focus on quality and customer needs. We’re thrilled to see it lead the segment for so long, and we aim to keep delivering great value.”
With the year-end rush ahead, Volkswagen expects even better numbers for the Virtus. If you’re shopping for a premium sedan, a test drive at your nearest showroom could be worth it – this hot seller might not wait around!
